DAVIES, David Llewellyn Sr. - Age 83, of Dartmouth. It is with great sadness that the family of David Llewellyn Davies Sr. announces his passing on Thursday, October 29, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born and raised in Selkirk, Man., he was a son of the late Vernon Reid and Lucy (Settee) Davies. Dave was known for his strong work ethic that he instilled in his children. He started his first job at the age of 13 years old as a grocery delivery boy then moved on to roasting peanuts during the Christmas season. In December 1957 Dave joined the Royal Canadian Navy and proudly served his 35 years mainly on the east coast. When Dave wasn't at sea, he would work at the local pub known as "The Wagon Wheel". After retirement from the military, he went on to have a lengthy career with the Commissionaires. Dave was a Lifetime member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160. In his younger years he enjoyed playing darts. He also loved to draw and paint for leisure. Dave was known for making ships crests and brass cannons for fel low shipmates. Dave is survived by his wife, Ursula Davies of Dartmouth; children, David Llewellyn Jr., Musquodoboit; Delmar Christian, British Columbia; Alex, Dartmouth; Verna Margaret Lucy (Jake), Ontario; Debbie (Joanne) Dartmouth, Melissa Dawn (Cliff), Greenwood; grandchildren, Trevor, Paul, Joshua, Ashley, Angela; and great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Addison. Predeceased by two of his children, infant daughter, Deborah Leah in 1959, teenage son, Vernon Willard in 1977; and his only brother Delmar, in 1989. Cremation has taken place for the Burial at Sea ceremony for family at a later date. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth on Thursday, November 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Poppy Campaign or a charity of one's choice. Special thanks to Dr. M. Watson and all the Staff of 4 East at Dartmouth General Hospital who cared for Dad.
