In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FORSYTH, William Roy (Spud) - from Launching, age 86 peacefully passed away Dec. 14, 2020 at the KCMH, Montague, PEI with his wife at his side. Predeceased by his parents: father James Edgar Forsyth, mother Mary Ellen "Nellie" (Thomas) Forsyth, sister Elaine and brother-in-law Upton (Charlie) Fraser. Roy served his Country in the Navy from 1951-1984 retiring as Chief Petty Officer 1st Class. He worked for a Marine Consultant Firm for a few years and then as a Quality Assurance Manager for Saint John Ship Building in Georgetown, PEI before retiring for a second time. In retirement, Roy enjoyed being in charge of all things mechanical on his small farm. He was perhaps best known for his uncanny knack of starting a chainsaw with one pull as he ushered patrons of the family’s Halloween walk back to their vehicles. He enjoyed holidays with family and friends and volunteering his time to those in need. Survived by his wife Sharon Forsyth: Roy and Sharon had no children of their own but were blessed with amazing nephews and nieces and their wonderful spouses and partners. Roy was also survived by his children: Karla, Tara, Trevor (Denise) and Chantal and grandchildren: Kalen, Tyson, Brandon, Griffin and Logan. A special thanks to Trevor, Craig and Calem for always being ready for a video chat, Roy loved short but sweet hello’s, and to Dave, his neighbour and friend for the multiple hours spent providing relief during this difficult time. In keeping with Roys’ wishes there will be no service, however, online donations may be made to the KCMH or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8, Montague, PEI, C0A 1R0.
