Chief ERA Halvor Vilhelm Liabø joined the RCNR on August 22, 1940 and was a 2nd engineer on a Norwegian whaler in civil life. He was born in Christiangund, Norway.  Chief Liabø died when lost overboard near Barry Road, Northern Ireland, from HMCS SAINT JOHN.

 

Mentioned in Despatches Citation:  LIABØ, Havor Vilhelm, Chief Engine Room Artificer, A2604, Mention in Despatches - RCNR, HMCS SAINT JOHN - Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 21 April 1945 and London Gazette of 20 March 1945.  "For services in destroying enemy submarines."
