Mentioned in Despatches citation: LIPSIT, Donald Chalmers, Stoker Petty Officer, V16494, Mentioned in Despatches, RCNVR, HMCS MAHONE J159 - Awarded as per canada Gazette 0f 16 Jun 1945 and London Gazette of 14 Jun 1945. "This rating has served aboard HMCS MAHONE since 29 May 1943 as Stoker Petty Officer. He has at all times been an inspiration to his men, and when his ship was rammed in January 1944, he assisted greatly in controlling the damage. His cheerfulness and zealous performance of his duties is worthy of the highest praise."
