PEARSON, Douglas James "Doug " October 1, 1917 April 18, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family announces the quiet passing of Douglas J. Pearson at the wonderful age of 91 years. Doug was a lifelong resident of Victoria B.C. where he was born on Oct 1, 1917, one of four brothers Burt, Alec and David now all deceased. Doug joined the Canadian Navy on July 12, 1937 at the age of 17 and became a decorated veteran of both the second World War and the Korean War. He retired from the Navy on Aug. 7, 1962 after 25 years of distinguished service. Doug went on to have a successful business career spanning 20 years before his final retirement in 1982. He will always be remembered as the consummate host, loving husband and adoring father. His honesty, integrity and generosity was an inspiration to all who knew him. Dad will be deeply missed by his two sons Greg (Alice) and Keith (Dee) Pearson. In addition Doug will always be remembered by his loving grandchildren Brandy (Brad), Rebecca, Kyle (Stephanie), Beth, Zachary, Ann-Marie (Cody) and great grandchildren Peyton, Ella, Alexis, Isabell and Austin. There are many nieces, nephews and good friends who will also mourn his passing. The family wishes to extend a special thankyou to the Lodge at Broadmead and specifically the many staff members on the Magnolia wing who made Doug's stay so pleasant and comfortable. A remembrance service will be held on Sat. June 6, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at First Memorial Services 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria B.C. followed by refreshments in the Chapel hall.
