MCCONNELL, Lawrence Michael, LS, V6640, RCNVR, killed - 16 Apr 1945, HMCS ESQUIMALT - Son of Warner T. and Annie McConnell, of Ottawa, ON.
LS McConnell died when his ship, HMCS ESQUIMALT, was torpedoed and sunk by U-190 off the approaches to Halifax harbour. LS McConnell was rescued by HMCS SARNIA, but died onboard, within 2 miles from Halifax. He was buried in the Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, ON.
