PORTER, Alfred (Al) Mark - Passed away on June 12, 2009, born 1924 in Ioco, B.C. Al enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the Iroquois from 1944 to September, 1945 in both the North Atlantic and in the D-Day launch at Normandy. After the war Al rejoined the Navy in 1946, married Agnes Klassen in 1947 and also served in the Korean war and went on to serve over 25 years with the Navy on both coasts before retiring in 1968. For the last two years, Al has been a resident of the Jeskin Aerie in Langford, B.C. Al is survived by his four daughters, Connie Watson, Sandra (Gary) Strickland, Karen Cannon and Shanen Porter, and six grandchildren. Al is also survived by one brother, Earl and sister Alice and many nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank the Victoria Hospice 3rd Richmond Pavilion for all their compassion and support. A Family and Friends service will be held at a later date. Donations in AI's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
