In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
DOYLE, Patrick Grattan (Pat) - 87 years, of Halifax, passed away January 3, 2021 at his residence. Born in Halifax he was the son of the Late Henry and Mary (Blackburn) Smith and husband of the late Marguerite (Smith).
At the age of 18 Pat enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and sailed on the HMCS HAIDA as a Gun Navigator. After the Korean War ended in 1953, Pat left military life for new beginnings as a Millwright, in which he worked up until his retirement.
Pat was a loving husband and devoted father. He will be remembered by many and forgotten by few as he lit up a room whenever he entered and that light still burns.
Along with his wife, Marguerite, Pat was predeceased by his sons, Henry and Albert; daughter, Catherine; sister, Jean and brother, George.
Pat is survived by daughter; Theresa; sons, Douglas (Joanne), Sean and Patrick (Susan) as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 8 at11am from Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. A private interment at St. John’s Columbarium will take place at a later date.
