In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
NOONAN, Douglas Matthew - youngest son of Marjorie and Kevin Noonan was born April 16 1965 in Hamilton. He attended St Vincent de Paul, St Thomas More and Mohawk College, played Hawks baseball, Hurricanes football, and was lead singer in a band. Doug joined the Navy Reserves in 1983 and spent time across Canada achieving Petty Officer First Class. He was an experienced reserve training, fire, and rescue team leader. A life-long Ticats fan, Doug was honoured to represent 'those who serve' at a game in 2016. In 1992 Doug started with the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG) of Royal Roads Military College in Victoria and later Kingston, on the Dew Line Cleanup in the Arctic. He managed ESG logistics across the Arctic for several years. Doug received commendations for his later work as a Navy recruiter for 11 years and also re-joined the HMCS Star Reserve unit. Doug had an uncanny memory for people and made new friends wherever he went. He had a great sense of humour and a huge, kind heart. We will miss you forever and remember you with love, not sadness. Doug is survived by siblings: Mark (Charlene), Ann (Chris), Pat, Greg and John (Heather), nieces, nephews and families, extended family and many friends. A gathering will be planned for safer times. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity. Safe travels Doug, we love you always. From Doug's Navy buddy: "Fair winds and following seas, Doug Noonan... we have the watch my friend" (The Hamilton Spectator 16 Feb 2021)
