In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FEENER, Arthur - There passed away at his residence at White Point Road, Arthur Feener in his 82 year, last Tuesday morning. He was a son of the late Alexander and Eliza Feener, and was born at Gull Island on December 18, 1855. He married Clara Wolfe of Western Head and settled at his late residence. To them were born 10 children. Charles, Ralph, Mrs. William Walsh, Mrs. Walter LeGras, all of the United States and Miss Mildred, R. N., of the Nova Scotia sanatorium, Kentville. Mr. Feener followed the sea in the West Indies trade. During the war he served in the government patrol service. Since 1918 he retired to his farm and was active until last August when his final illness began. He had only been confined to his bed about three weeks. His daughter Mildred, came home three weeks ago to nurse him, and his son, Robert, of Malden, Mass., a week ago, and both were with their mother by his bedside at his death. Mr. Feener was a vigorous, hard working man of independent spirit and widely known. He has left a fine family to bring honor to his name and credit to their native land. His wife and children, a brother Alexander of Mersey Point and many friends are left to mourn his passing. (Halifax Chronicle Mon., 15 Mar 1937 / Researched by George Newbury)
