GIBBONS, Marshall Lloyd, AB, V51109, RCNVR, killed - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Bert G. and Minnie H. Gibbons, of London, Ontario.
AB Gibbons died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN G07, was sunk in the English Channel on April 29, 1944. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Brignogan-Plage Communal Cemetery, Finistere, France. The province of Ontario honoured Able Seaman Gibbons by naming Gibbons Lake in his honour.
