In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FYLKOW, Peter - It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Peter Fylkow, who passed away peacefully March 10, 2021 at the age of 95. Peter was born in Kobylowloki, Poland on January 12, 1926 to Harry and Eva Fylkow. He came to Canada in 1938. He was a veteran of WW II in the Canadian Navy. He worked in the finishing room in the paper mill until he retired in 1994. He was an avid curler and bowler in his younger years and enjoyed fishing both from the boat and on the ice. His garden was his pride and joy and he spent many hours weeding and watching it grow. Peter was predeceased by his parents, loving wife Helen (Wowchuk); daughter Patricia and son-in-law Joe Johnson; brother Bill; father and mother-in-law Andrew and Rose Wowchuk; brothers-in-law William and Mytro (Svet) Wowchuk and his wife Carol. Peter is survived by his daughters Kathleen Harrison and Linda Keeler (Ross) and brother-in-law Walter Wowchuk. Dido will be missed by his grandchildren Rebecca Roynon (Steve), Aimee Matheson (Chris), Dawn Redford (Boomer), Andrew Harrison, Heather Johnson-Jarvis (Matt) and Emma Keeler. He was also very proud to be Great Dido to Grady and Marshall, Ainsley and Abigail, Henry and Norah and Marina and Charlie. Family was very important to Peter and he enjoyed and looked forward to every gathering and visit. He was also very fortunate to be able to stay in his own home until his passing and was thankful to all who helped make that happen. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to the Riverside Health Care Foundation – Palliative Care, 110 Victoria Avenue, Fort Frances, Ontario, P9A 2B7.
