In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Roy Benjamin (Ben) Seager

Died: Mar 2007

Ben served in the Navy during the Second World War.  He was awarded 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and the War Medal 1939-45.

HMCS RACCOON was torpedoed in the St. Lawrence Sept.7th, 1942. Roy Benjamin Seager was transferred off the Raccoon shortly (days) before it left for it's fateful patrol. This was truly a family miracle. The Seagers had the luck of the Irish (we are not Irish), you see 14 months earlier, Ben had an older brother serving in the Royal Navy on HMS Hood. He was transferred shortly before the Hood put out to chase the Bismarck and was lost... twice in a row, what luck for the family! (Submitted by Jerry Seager)

Webmaster's note: There are several photos with Roy in them on the HMCS HUSKY'S page from the collection of William Bennett.

Ships served in:
