In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HORNYAK, John Michael - was born in Saskatchewan in July 1920 and joined the Navy in 1942. While in the Navy Seaman Hornyak trained and served as a Radio Operator / Signalman. John, who was born and raised in Saskatchewan, couldn't swim a stroke, yet wanted to serve in the Navy. Before and immediately after the war, my father who was a very good left handed baseball pitcher, played semi pro baseball, both in western Canada as well as in eastern Canada. He had 3 sons. John died of a heart attack in 1978 while on a business trip.
