MACKINTOSH, Russell Myrle - 87, of Granville Ferry. It is with deep sadness that the family announce Russell’s passing on April 6, 2021, in Digby General Hospital, Digby. Born on August 21, 1933 in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Marion (Hirtle) Mackintosh. Russell served 20 years in the Royal Canadian Navy; worked 18 years for the Department of Labour; was a 45 year member of the Annapolis Royal Volunteer Fire Department (15 years was held as chief); 45 year member of the Port Royal Legion, Branch 21 and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Annapolis Royal. Besides his family, Russell loved sports, having been an umpire of softball for over 30 years, refereed lacrosse, basketball and boxing. He was also a true fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Patsy” (Miller); sons, Andrew (Helen), Russell, Jeffrey (Cheryl), Tim (Susan) and Sheldon (Joan); grandsons, Ryan, Tyler, Scott, Jordan, Jared, Chance and Connor; granddaughters, Karla, Shaunessy, Miranda and Haley; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Trudy, Patsy, Mary and Brenda; brothers, Bruce, David, Bob, Michael and Gage. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine and Kay; brother, Frank. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Due to Covid-19 a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to VON, Fidelis House, Food Bank or Charity of Choice.
