In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McLEOD, George - Bridgewater, March 8 - The sudden death of George McLeod, local representative of the Imperial Oil Company, occurred at his home on Victoria Road at eight o'clock this morning following a week's illness. In October last Mr. McLeod underwent an operation at the Victoria General hospital, Halifax, following which he was removed to Dawson Memorial hospital here where he remained a patient for nearly seven weeks.
Discharged from hospital December 24, he had since enjoyed apparent good health until his late illness. Mr. McLeod was 57 years of age and was a native of Souris, P.E.I., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McLeod. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. About 25 years ago with his wife, the former Miss Kate Nicholson, Souris, P.E.I., he came to Bridgewater where he has since resided as manager of the Oil Company here.
George's sons - John MacLeod and Donald McLeod served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War.
