MARINI, Gilbert Albert - It is with great sadness we announce that Gilbert Albert Marini passed away peacefully in Victoria at the age of 84. He leaves Margaret, his loving wife of 57 years, his children, Anne, Doug (Lorraine), Rae (Glen), Lynn (Frank), and Mike and twelve adored grandchildren. Also mourning his death are his siblings Patricia (Paul), Mitch (Leigh), Rita (Tom), Eddie (Dot), Rose, and Bernie as well as 13 nieces and nephews and their children. Gil was predeceased by his brothers John and Peter, son Ralph, and parents Ralph and Julienne. Dad was born in Kennedy, Saskatchewan. He served in the Navy on the INCH ARRAN during World War II before moving to Kamloops where he met and married Marg Driver. He took over his dad's construction company and, with his brothers, built schools and businesses in the Kamloops area. As one of the co-founders of Tod Mountain ski hill, dad, an avid skier, spent many winter days there with Marg and their children. Skiers and boarders still seek out his secret run "Gil's Hill" at Tod for an awesome powder experience. Our summers were spent at the cabin he built on Little Shuswap Lake where he shared with us his love of sailing. Dad was a gentle, loving and happy soul who experienced great enjoyment watching his grandchildren grow. No service by request. A memorial will be held at a later date.
