IRVING, William Anderson (Bill) - Born in Calgary, Alberta on March 3, 1920, Bill sailed to calmer seas on Friday, June 21, 2013. Bill served for five years aboard the HMCS MIDLAND during World War II then embarked with a career as a machinist and millwright for various well known Calgary based companies, ending his very successful career with Cominco Ltd. Bill has left behind a career and noble past as a dedicated, devoted tradesman, there are many cars still on the road today that have benefited from his expertise. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, an honorable and genuine Calgarian and Canadian. William is survived by son Chris Irving, daughter Marianne MacDonald, son-in-law Stu MacDonald, grandson Shaun MacDonald and granddaughter Leanne MacDonald; long-time friend Marnie Staub and her family and Taso and Colleen Mentzelopoulos and family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia and son William (Bucky) Irving. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 Street S.W.) today, June 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Southwood Hospice, 211 Heritage Drive S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1M9.
