KENT, Charles Jules - May 3rd, 1970, Charles J. (Chuck) aged 47 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Carol Kent, 2103 - 24th Ave. N. W., and dear father of Charles and Stephen. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Stanley (Louise) Boyd, Chetwynd, B.C. and a brother, Albert, Victoria, B.C. Born in Metz, France, he came to Calgary as a child and attended Western Canada High School. In 1939 Mr. Kent joined the R.C.N. and was wounded on the H.M.C.S. "Athabaskan" resulting in the loss of both legs. He was employed with the D.V.A. as a welfare officer from 1945 until retiring in December, 1969. Mr. Kent was a member of the A.N. & A.F. Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, No. 1 Branch. Services at "The Little Chapel on the Corner" (Jacques Funeral Home) Thursday at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Robert Shannon officiating. Ships served in: SS NERISSA - Charles Kent was a passenger aboard the SS NERISSA for transport to HMCS NIOBE in Scotland and survived her sinking HMCS ATHABASKAN - Kent was severely injured in the glider bomb attack on HMCS ATHABASKAN on 27 Aug 1943
