In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ABBOTT, David Spencer - MARBLEHEAD - Capt. David S. Abbott, 90, well-known yachtsman and sailing master, of 146 Village St., died Thursday at his late residence. He was the husband of the late Lorna D. (Crocker) Abbott.
Born in Forbes Point, Nova Scotia, son of the late Robert J. and Ida Jane (Adams) Abbott, he has been a resident of Marblehead since 1937.
Capt Abbott was a master mariner. He served in the Canadian and the U.S. Navy in World War I with the rank of Lieutenant.
He was a member of the Yacht Masters Association.
He is survived by one son, William H. Abbott of Exter, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. Mayre Moran of Salem, and Mrs. Dorothy Marble of Conway, N.H.; two brothers, Capt. Ira E. Abbott of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Harold D. Abbott of Beverly; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Evans of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 a.m. (Salem Evening News, Friday 07 Jul 1978)
