In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McPHEE, George Douglas - It is with sadness we announce the unexpected passing of George Douglas McPhee on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at home after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Although George’s passing was not cancer related, he was a cancer survivor for over 13 years. Born in New Waterford, George was the son of the late George Edward and Patricia (Wilson) McPhee. Family was everything to George. He was a hard worker, for he served in the Navy and later worked for Sydney Steel as an electrician over 30 years before retiring. George was a long time member of Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church. He loved most sports, especially hockey and baseball, for George was a diehard fan of Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Yankees. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and spending time at the bungalow on the Mira with a good book in his hand. George will be remembered by his family and friends for being determined, strong-willed and most of all, a good provider to his family. George is survived by his loving wife, Mary Margaret ‘Patsy’ (Dairou) McPhee; children, George McPhee, Sydney, Lori McPhee, Sydney, and Stephen McPhee, Alberta; one special grandson, Lance (Becky) McPhee; brothers, Jim (Connie) Beaver, Keith (Ina) Beaver and Donnie (Laureen) Beaver; sisters, Patricia (Garth) Pierce, Lynn Campbell and several aunts, nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his father, George McPhee, who died in WWII; mother, Pat Beaver and step-father, Melvin Beaver.
