In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ROUSSEAU, Gilles - It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Papa, Gilles Rousseau, at the age of 87 on August 2, 2021. He passed away peacefully after a short stay in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Montreal, he was a son of Gérard and Albertine Rousseau. Gilles was an active member in the Royal Canadian Navy for 35 years working his way through the ranks, serving on many naval ships and bases from coast to coast across Canada. After retirement, he became an avid bowler enjoying the camaraderie at Fairlanes Bowling Alley. He tended to his beautiful garden as long as he was able and enjoyed walks around the neighbourhood stopping to chat along the way. Dad was a huge fan of Coronation Street, of which we had to work around the schedule of shows to call or drop by. He was also an avid curling and Formula One car racing fan. Most recently he enjoyed meeting up with his friends at Tim’s for a coffee and to discuss the topics of the day. He is survived by daughters, Pauline (David) Naugler, Yvonne Rousseau, Suzanne (Gary) Roberts; brothers, Jean-Marie, Jacques and Serge Rousseau; sisters-in-law, Yvette, Yolande, Hugette Rousseau, Janet MacDonald, Jacqueline Selman and Pauline Pottier; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Naugler, Natalie Naugler, Lauren (Jonathan) Perry and Travis Roberts; great-grandchildren, Darius, Zoe and Jake; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Rousseau; brothers, Paul-Henri and Claude Rousseau; sisters-in-law, Elaine and Louiselle Rousseau, Dorothy Craig; brothers-in-law, Richard and Francis Pottier, Jerry MacDonald and Alton Craig. In honour of Gilles’ wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cremation services have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. (The Saltwire Network 06 Aug 2021)
