ARMOUR, Peter George Douglas - 'One of the most valuable gifts a good horseman can receive is that in the process of quieting one's horse, inherently a flight animal, the handler also quiets himself.' (Peter Armour) A lifelong horseman, Peter George Douglas Armour passed away at age 98 as he had lived - with grace and assurances to his loved ones. He died in his sleep after a brief hospitalization. In his last days he was surrounded by his family and conveyed to them his peace and immense joy and gratitude for a long life well lived. He was a kind, gentle-man with a clever wit and wry humour that he was still expressing up to his last hours. Peter was happiest in the country with family, friends, animals, opera, skiing, riding, sailing, gardening and filling the birdfeeder. He served as a naval Commanding Officer of the Fairmile, Q099 during WWII, volunteered on many charitable boards, worked in insurance and became one of Canada's first Risk Management consultants, called upon as an expert witness on claims of national significance. He is survived by his wife Patty Boake, his children Linden von Eichel, Timothy Armour (Marie), Cynthia Armour, and his adopted son Stephen Armour; his grandchildren Kira, Julia, Eric, Jakob and Kimberly, and his great-grandchildren Bella, Felix, Cecily, Severin, Thomas, Chloe and Emilia. He was also the beloved uncle of 19 nieces and nephews. Following the premature death of his first love, Sis (Cynthia) when he was 68, he married his second great love, Patty Boake, thirteen years later, expanding his family to include stepsons Stephen, Brian and Ian Boake and their families. He is predeceased by wife, Sis (nee Henderson), son Gregory, adopted son Patrick and siblings Peggy, David and John. Heartfelt thanks to Sunnybrook's tireless and caring C3 staff.
