In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MAZIUK, Donald Henry (Don) - It is with profound sadness that the daughters of Donald Maziak announce his passing on August 5th, 2021, at Extendicare Tecumseh. Donald was a devoted husband to Virginia (Ginger) and a wonderful father to Dawn and Diana. He is the brother of the late Jack, Norman Maziak and Susie Reid, and son of Stella and Jack Senior Maziak. In his youth, Donald served as a Lead Seaman, Helicopter mechanic on several aircraft carriers in the Canadian Navy. Don was very proud of his time serving Canada. Upon discharge, Don trained as a barber and set up a shop in downtown LaSalle where he practiced for 40 years. Donald was completely devoted to his clients and was known for going to their homes and hospital when they were ill or palliative. Don had a heart of gold, an active mind, subtle dry humour and energy to spare; with these characteristics, he demonstrated his commitment to the community by being one of the founding members of the LaSalle BIA and Strawberry Festival. Don loved the game of golf and was an active member of Point West and other facilities in Windsor and Essex County. Donald will be missed terribly by his wife Ginger, the surviving brother, Roger and sister-in-law Sue. His two daughters, Dawn and Diana, son-in-law Ken and Alex (Skip). His two grandsons were the apple of his eye, and Kullen and Kaiden Stewart will dearly miss him. Cremation has taken place. Donations can be made to Ojibway Park, Nature Preserve Windsor Ontario. Don spent many memorable years taking his daughters and dogs for walks and ice skating. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Tom Wilson, Dr. McLoud and the Lakewood Health Care Team for such wonderful care. In the last few years of Donald's life, he found his "singing voice," and we are grateful to the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor and Essex County for helping dad sing "loud and proud!!! Thank you. Dad, you are so loved and will be greatly missed by your daughters, Dawn and Diana. All our love - we will meet again. (The Windsor Star 10 Aug 2021)
