In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PADDON, George Howard - 95 years, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2021. Reunited with his beloved wife of 68 years, Stella (2019-nee Splawnyk), they are once again dancing together in the sky. Loving and supportive father of Mary Middleton (Doug), Trish Staudt (John), and George (Toni Wilkinson). Cherished grandpa of Melissa Burke (Kelly), Drew Middleton (Rhonda), Katie Quimby (James), Lisa Staudt and Laura Ross (Shane Cowie) and proud great grandpa to Lauren, Emma, April, Zoey, Carsen, Griffin and Bobby. Special older brother to Neil (late Helen), and Uncle Howie to many nieces and nephews. Howard is also predeceased by daughter LouAnn (1960) and grandson Eric (1984), as well as siblings Wymouth (Betty), Norah Bondy (Harry) and Norris (Joan).
Howard was a carpenter tradesman at Hiram Walkers. He was a naval veteran of WWII and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 594. Howard sang in the LaSalle Choir for many years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, and gladly accepted the challenge of many building projects for friends and family. He delighted in learning new things and would express his wonder, saying, "Son of a gun! Isn't that something". Howard was a good and honorable man. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to sincerely thank the amazing staff at Richmond Terrace for their exceptional care and compassion.
In honour of Howard's charitable nature, a random act of kindness in his name would also be greatly appreciated. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to the Food Bank of Canada to help people struggling with hunger during this difficult time.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Howard's life at Families First, 2170 Front Rd. Lasalle, 519-969-5841.
Do not be sad that he is gone, be glad that he was here and made all our lives richer. He did it, "His Way". AMEN (The Windsor Star 14 Aug 2021)
