ENGLER, Betty Lillian (née SILVER) - Age 84, of Dartmouth, it is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother on December 5, 2018 peacefully at home. Born in Springfield to the late Wesley and Florence Silver. Betty had an extraordinary work ethic that was demonstrated at work and at home. She served three years in the WRENS, was a homemaker for a number of years, returning to work for the federal government, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed reading, league bowling, camping and most of all, spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Max Engler; children, Deborah (Brian Hooton), Saint John, NB, Gregory, Conrod Settlement, Jennifer (Charlie Yorston), Dartmouth, Tony (Denise), Baker Lake, NB, Sandra (Tim Lasaga), Eastern Passage, Christopher, Windsor. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Angela, Matthew, Nicolas, Amanda, Huey, Davey, Alex, Anna and Eric; as well as her great-grandchildren, Logan, Riley, Grace and Max. She was predeceased by her sister, Elmeda Pernette; brothers, Harvey, Fred and Gordon. Special thanks to Dr. Banks, Dr. Van Zoost, VON, especially Tammy, Continuing Care and Palliative Care Teams, Northwood Homecare, and Patricia Caldwell for their amazing care for mom. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 1pm in Springfield United Baptist Church, 1203 Highway 10, Springfield. Special thank you to Rev. Mary Lynne Whyte who will be officiating. Donations may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Alzheimer’s Society of NS or Springfield United Baptist Church.
