CLEMENTS, Lois Annie Mina (née WARNER) - Passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016 at the age of 95. Survived by her daughters LaVita Best of Kelowna, Sandy Clements of Calgary, grandson Demian Clements of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was born in Red Deer, AB and grew up in Winfield, AB and Klamath Falls, Oregon before returning to Alberta where she married Fred Clements in 1940. She served in the Navy from December 1942 – December 1945 as a Leading Wren, in charge of a select group of women who served in Canada, England and Scotland. The Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS; popularly and officially known as the Wrens) included cooks, clerks, wireless telegraphists, radar plotters, weapons analysts, range assessors, electricians and air mechanics. Lois lived in BC since 1965, spending many years in Creston before moving to Kelowna. She volunteered for numerous organizations including the Kelowna Ladies Auxiliary Thrift Store. She was an avid quilt maker and loved to fish and garden. Lois resided in Cottonwoods for the last years of her life. Many, many thanks to the nurses and staff who cared for her over her time in the Driftwood Unit. There will be a Private Graveside service at 1:30 on May 11, 2016. (Springfield Funeral Home)
