In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GIACOMUZZI, Guido - The family of Guido Giacomuzzi are sad to announce Guido’s passing on December 2, 2020 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 97. Guido was born in Blairmore, Alberta where he lived until 1973 when he had a work transfer to Lethbridge. After retirement, Guido moved to High River, Calgary, and finally to Kelowna in 2017.
Guido was predeceased by his parents Marco and Maria, wife Emma in 1980, wife Millie in 2010, brothers Louis and Amelio, and sister Laura. Guido is survived by his sons Laren (Della) and Rick (Cindy); sisters-in-law Ethel Pattison and Veronica Kubik; and several nieces and nephews.
Guido was very proud of his service in the Royal Canadian Navy in WW II where he served in the North Atlantic. Remembrance Day was the most sacred day of the year for Guido. The family would like to acknowledge the tremendous support of Veterans Affairs in Guido’s later years.
After discharge from the service Guido returned to Blairmore where he married Emma Kubik. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage before Emma’s death. Guido met and was married to Millie in 1983 until her passing.
Guido spent the majority of his working career with Alberta Brewers’ Agents, and was very involved in sporting activities and service clubs. He was avidly involved in baseball, hockey, curling, bowling, and horse shoes. He also coached his sons in hockey and baseball, and was actively involved in volunteer work with the BPO Elks and the Royal Canadian Legion, where he was a Life Member.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. P. Butterworth and the staff at Orchard Manor at Hawthorn Park for their outstanding and compassionate care.
There will be a graveside service at a future date in Blairmore, AB. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you raise a toast in Guido’s memory. (Springfield Funeral Home)
