In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McRAE, Angus Alfred - It is with much sadness that the McRae family announce the passing of Angus McRae on September 8, 2021 at the age of 91 at the Ottawa General Hospital. He was predeceased by Gladys, his wife of 70 years. Angus is survived by his three sons Ian (Patricia), Shaen (Wendy) and Craig, his four grandchildren Brent, Tara, Laura (Matthew) and Danika (Victor) and his great-grandchildren Reanne, Madison and Brayden. He also leaves his niece Lucille O'Connor and grandniece Susan, of Calgary, and his nephew Lyle, of Geraldton. Angus was born in Fort William. He joined the Navy in 1954 and was based in Churchill, Moncton, then Ottawa. In 1959 he left the Navy and joined the Department of National Defense from which he retired in 1987. He and his wife then spent their winters in Florida, where Angus joined the Moose Lodge and enjoyed lawn bowling both in Florida and many years in Ottawa. In 2018, they moved to the Waterford Retirement Residence where he enjoyed the company of many new friends. Our sincere thanks to the staff at the Waterford, the Ottawa General Hospital Palliative Care Team, Dr. Lotimer and Maddie, and Dr. Frank and nurses for the excellent and compassionate care in his final days. A private family interment will be held at the Highland Cemetery, McGee Side Road, Carp, Ontario on October 23. (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 02 Oct 2021)
