In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Kenneth MacKay

RCNVR

Born: 16 May 1921

Died: 28 Oct 2021, Thunder Bay, Ontario

MacKAY, Kenneth - passed away peacefully at the Southbridge Roseview long term care home on October 28th. Prior to his residency there he had been a volunteer at Roseview for many years. Ken turned 100 this year on May 16th. He was predeceased by his wife Betty MacKay (Biggs) in 2010 and is survived by his daughter Heather MacKay.

Ken served proudly in WWII in the Canadian navy and remained connected to the local naval veteran's organization. After the war he graduated the University of Toronto as an engineer and worked in that capacity at both the Great Lakes Pulp and Paper Mill and the Thunder Bay Board of Education.

He was passionate about playing golf, enjoyed playing hockey through to middle age and could always be counted on to sub in for a bridge game.

Ken was a loving husband and father who always put his family ahead of himself. He regularly attended St. Paul's Anglican Church after the death of his wife and drew comfort there from the clergy and parishioners. It is at St. Paul's Anglican Church that a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd, at 11:00 am. If friends and family so desire, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, wearing of masks or face coverings is required by everyone attending the service. Proof of vaccination is not required. (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 30 Oct 2021)
