WILSON, Joan D. - of North Vancouver passed away peacefully on August 8, 2009 at Lions Gate Hospital, at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her husband and best buddy of 49 years, William T. (Bill) Wilson in 1997. Survived by son Robert (Gail); daughter Pat (Dan); grandchildren: Jennifer and Robin; sister-in-law Janet (Peter); brother-in-law Stanley (Jean); sister-in-law Georgie and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was born in Sumas, WA on May 21, 1921 and grew up on the Barred-Rock poultry farm in Abbotsford, BC. She enlisted in the Canadian Armed Services in 1942 and served overseas as a member of the WRCNS (WRENS) from 1944-1946. She returned to Canada and married Bill in 1948, raised her family in Coquitlam until moving permanently to North Vancouver in 1966. At Joan's request there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. Published on August 12, 2009
