In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BROUSSEAU, Rene Gerard (Bruce) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, Rene "Bruce" Gerard Brousseau, who passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2021, surrounded by family. Born on November 19, 1934 in Ottawa to Royal and Jeannette Brousseau, one of five children. Rene joined the Royal Canadian Navy on August 18, 1953 and married Angela "Angie" Butler, his wife of 43 years, on November 19, 1955. Rene was active with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Canadian Naval Association, the Naval Electrical Society, and was a devout member of St. Ignatius parish. After discovering a talent and passion for painting late in life, Rene was an active member of the Dal Riada and 14th Palette Art Groups. Rene was pre-deceased by his wife, Angie; his parents, Royal and Jeannette, and stepson, David Butler. He is survived by his children, Jeannette, Rene (Joe), Roy (Cathy), Scott (Lisa) and Paulette; his siblings, Collette, Giselle, Louis (Irene), and Marcel, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held in St. Ignatius Church in Bedford at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 2nd. There will be a private interment ceremony in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where Rene’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside Angie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. (Saltwire Network 23 Aug 2021)
