In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SABISTON, Brian H. - Peacefully in Toronto, Friday, November 12, 2021, at the age of 82. Born and raised in Victoria, B.C., Brian graduated from Victoria College in 1961 with a UBC degree in Zoology and Psychology (1st graduating class from what was to become UVic), an MSc from UWO in Physiology, and a PhD from U of T in Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology. Early career highlights were Officer Cadet RCN, immigration officer and ambulance driver/paramedic. 40+ years of distinguished service at DCIEM/DRDC: Head/Immunology; Head/Operational Medicine; Business Development Officer; and Deputy Director General. Seconded to DRDC Suffield, Brian served as Business Development Officer until his final retirement. He was a mentor to many, and as a defence scientist, Brian's research took him from the high Canadian Arctic to the African Congo. Survived by his children Andrew (and his mother Carole), Catherine (Cathi) and Doug (and their mother Donna); their partners Stephanie, Jason, and Angela; grandchildren Oliver, Teagan and Carson; his best friend and partner Judi; and many friends. Dad, we wish you Godspeed, following seas, and may the wind be always at your back. Memorial services will be planned in Toronto and Victoria. Donations to the charity of your choice.
