STOKES, Firth Kenneth - Age 80 of Dartmouth, passed away surrounded by his loving family in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in St. Thomas, Ont., son of the late Firth and Violet (Groves) Stokes. Firth was a hard-working, family man, best known as Grampy; one of the things he loved most was being a grandfather. He loved to travel especially if it was by way of ship. He spent 34 years of dedicated service in the Royal Canadian Navy, later going on to be a long serving member of the Commissionaires until he was 75. In his retired years he enjoyed spending time with family, shopping at Costco, having coffee with friends and watching the ships come into the Harbour from the Dartmouth Waterfront directly across from CFB Halifax. Survived by his children, David Stokes of Sackville; Michael (Jacqueline) Stokes of Winnipeg, Man. and Christine (Marcel) Stokes of Dartmouth; sister, Vickie (John) Ryan of St. Thomas, Ont., as well as grandchildren, Darcie, Alyssa, Micaela, Isabel, Tori and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ellie, Brady and River and nephews, Sean, Colin, and Derek. Predeceased by his parents, Firth and Violet Stokes; his twin brother, David Stokes and the love of his life, Elaine Stokes. Celebration of Life will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth on Saturday, September 25th at 10 a.m. followed by private family burial.
