In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
KAMERMANS, William Edward (Bill) - of Dartmouth, passed away April 14, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born January 8, 1938, in Sydney and raised in Bathurst, N.B., he was the son of the late Arthur Sebastian and Juanita Idella (Betts) Kamermans. Bill joined the military in 1956 at the age of 17, retiring in 1987. He was a submariner at heart. After leaving the military, Bill worked at CFB Halifax until his retirement. He was very involved with the Royal Canadian Legion Somme Branch, serving on the executive committees and belonged to several dart leagues. Hockey was one of his passions ("GO BRUINS!"). Bill also enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey, woodworking, and spending time at the cottage in Middle Cornwall. Bill is survived by "Me Darling Wife", Marie (Jessome); children, Greg, Toronto; Pat (Donna), Danny (Allura), Kristine (Lorne), Michelle, Karen, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Andrea, Jordan, Jennifer, Braden, Matthew, Shea, Sam, Ben, Liam; and a large extended family who loved him and will miss him dearly. Bill is also survived by brother, Gary Arthur "Butch" (Helen), Bathurst, N.B.; sister, Linda Louise (Morrie) Waye, Newcastle, N.B. He was predeceased by sister, Bonnie Lee (Ellis). Visitation will be held Friday April 17, from 2-4 and from 7-9 p.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Church, Flying Cloud Drive, Dartmouth. There will be a legion service at 7 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held in the church Saturday at 10 am. A reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation will follow the service. Family flowers only, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the CNIB or the St. Vincent De Paul Building Fund, or a charity of one's choice.
