In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SWEENEY, Lloyd David - Died comfortably surrounded by the staff of the VG and his beloved wife by his side, on November 28, 2021, at the age of 70.
Born in New Victoria, Cape Breton on September 16th, 1951, David is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan. David will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sarah Sweeney (Ozgehan) and Lorna Sweeney Gale (Brendon), his three precious grandchildren, Calum, Emel, and Sibel, his brothers, Joe, Ebby (Ann Marie), and Jim (Carolyn) and sisters: Judy, Paula, Barbara (Maurice), and Reva, as well as his many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by sister Claudia and brother in laws Charlie and Raymond.
David enrolled in Her Majesty's navy in May 1972 and had 24 active postings until he retired in 2005. Being Captain of HMCS HALIFAX and IROQUOIS were two of his favorite postings but his most favorite was CFS Mill Cove in 1973, where he met his Susan. David loved traveling and learning as much as he could about everything. He had a great sense of humour, and if you ever heard him tell one of his jokes, you knew you were lucky. David (Dad) will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Canadian Blood Services.
