CANNON, Jocelyn Ursula (née WRAGGE) - known to family and friends as Binkie. Born in Nelson, B.C. September 20, 1921; died at home in West Vancouver on March 6, 2004 of Cancer. Binkie had many happy memories of growing up in Nelson, especially of days spent at their summer home on Kootenay Lake shore - whimsically called "Clothesline Point" because that's where "the Wragges hang out". Binkie graduated from Queen Margarets School in Duncan, B.C. with high marks in Art, Literature, and Sports (Field Hockey). On discharge from the WRCNs at the end of WWII, Binkie enrolled in the Vancouver School of Art. In the evenings she found time to rehearse for singing and dancing in the chorus of various musicals put on by T.U.T.S in Stanley Park. Married in 1958, Binkie raised 3 sons who also spent many summer holidays happily camping on the banks of the Kootenay Lake. Binkie enjoyed and cherished the friendships she made in the West Vancouver community, particularly at the Community Center's Aquatic Fitness programs and her Friday morning art classes. Binkie will be lovingly remembered by her husband John, sons Colin (Maria), Pat, Brian (Jackie) and grandchildren Chelsea, Matthew, and Rachel, and many relatives and friends across Canada, England, and Australia. The family wishes to thank the friends, nurses and volunteers who helped make Binkie's last days more enjoyable. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 12th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church 885 - 22nd Street, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the charity of your choice. RIP Binkie. (Vancouver Sun / The Province 25 Apr 2012)
