Alan Miller Luckraft

Born: 20 Feb 1923, Star City, Saskatchewan

 

Died: 27 Nov 2008, Surrey, British Columbia

 

LUCKRAFT, Alan Miller - Passed away peacefully in Surrey Memorial hospital after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Clara, step-son Wayne Jardine (Elvie), step-daughter Betty Morris (Tom) and their families. Al will also be missed by his nieces, nephew and cousins. Al was born Star City, Saskatchewan, and served in the navy including the Normandy invasion during WW2 aboard the HMCS Lunenburg. After leaving the navy Al resided in BC where he enjoyed quiet times fishing and canoeing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Surrey Hospital Foundation. Special thanks to Dr. D. Fransen and Dr. Andrew Wong.

* Webmaster's note:  Photo AL08 - The RCN only had one casualty named Eastman during the Second World War "Garnett Russell Eastman".  He was serving in HMCS GALT when he drowned in New York City while the ship was in port.  After a comparison with a known photo of Garnett Eastman it was determined that the sailor in this photo with Alan Luckraft is Garnett Eastman who was lost from HMCS GALT.
