ROBERTSON, Henry Wilson L/Sto, X/41058, RCN, died - 23 Mar 1941, HMS ARROWHEAD - Born 24 Feb 1894 Son of Robert and Caroline Robertson, husband of Margaret Robertson, of Montreal, QC.
Leading Stoker H. W. Robertson died in the South Dock, Sunderland, England. He was returning to the ship from shore when he fell from the quay onto the dock, the War Reserve police heard a shout and on flashing his torch over the water he saw Henry struggling to keep afloat. A lifebuoy and rope were thrown to Henry but he appeared too exhausted to seize the buoy, and he drowned.
Leading Stoker Henry Wilson Robertson was a naval veteran of the Great War. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940. His widow who lives in Montréal has received a message of sympathy from King George VI.
