GOVAN, Brian F. - After a brief illness on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the age of 90. Brian is survived by his wife, Ruth and daughter, Kathy Govan; grandchildren, Devon (Kery) and Laura (Danny); great-grandchildren, Aria, Prestyn, and Elena; brother, Victor Govan; sister-in-law, Shirley Govan; brother-in-law, Ross Eddie; as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Philip Govan. Brian owned Restaurant Equipment & Supply Company Limited for 50 years; founding member of R.E.D. Canada Food Service Supplier Buying Group. He had the honour to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy for 15 years on Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships: Magnificent, Ontario, Crescent, Wallaceburg, Sioux, Portage, and Raccoon; as well as shore establishments: Prevost, Star (Great Lakes Training Centre), York (CNE), Naden, Hochelaga, d'Iberville, Stadacona, and Cornwallis. Brian served in the London Power and Sail Squadron in a number of positions, including Squadron Commander, as well as District Commander Western Ontario District, and as a member of the National Governing Board. He was a member of the Great Lakes Cruising Club for 25 years, and was proud of his membership in the Royal Canadian Naval Association. There will be no funeral service.
