In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
STYRA, Dorothy (née WILSON) - died on Sunday, November 24th, 2002. Dorothy was the beloved sister of Bette Wilson, Calgary, Alberta, Greta Norman (Nils), Oslo, Norway, Dr. Donald Wilson (Neva), Lethbridge, Alberta and Helen Hvozdanski (John), Victoria. She was predeceased by her parents Marion and Benjamin Wilson, her husband Bruce Styra and her sister Lois Dearden. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as members of the Styra family. The families wish to thank her friends, Jane Hudson, Helen Lamb, and Hazel Southard for their support and kindness during Dorothy's lengthy illness. We would also like to thank Phyllis Knight, her room mate at UBC Hospital, Purdy Pavilion, for her generous spirit and concern for Dorothy's well being. Dorothy was devoted to her profession of Occupational Therapy and taught at the University of British Columbia's school of Rehabilitative Medicine. She served as as President of British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Dorothy was an Honourary and Life Time Member of both Associations in recognition of her tireless support and hard work in the development of the associations. Dorothy served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service ("Wrens") during the Second World War. Due to family illness, a memorial service will be held at a later date, which will be announced in this paper. Flowers are gratefully declined.
