LEITCH, Dugald LS, V35138, RCNVR, killed - 06 Jul 1944, HMCS SASKATCHEWAN - Son of Alexander and Jessie Lyle Leitch; brother of Mary Boucher.
Leading Seaman D. Leitch was killed during the early part of the enemy action at the Harbour of Brest. Dugald was serving aboard HMCS SASKATCHEWAN, and he had been loading a large machine gun, when he was hit by shrapnel from an enemy shell which exploded near him. The shrapnel penetrated his chest and perforated his lung. He died within ten minutes.
LS Leitch is buried in the Weston Mill Cemetery, Plymouth, Devon, England.
