HARDY, Sydney Arthur, OS, V70922, RCNVR, died - 21 Dec 1944, HMCS STONE TOWN - Son of Harry and Mae Adela Hardy, of Billings Bridge, ON.

 

OS Hardy fell overboard off HMCS STONE TOWN on 21 Dec 1944. HMCS STONE TOWN launched a boat to rescue him, and after fetching him up, they were picked up by HMCS POUNDMAKER, stern escort of Convoy SC.163 from Halifax to Liverpool. Art died of hypothermia and shock while aboard HMCS POUNDMAKER and was buried at sea the next day from HMCS POUNDMAKER. (Source: Memoirs of John Campbell, Lt, RCNVR, HMCS STONE TOWN)
