CARSON, Harold Raymond (Kit) - (Veteran WWII) Passed away peacefully after the 3rd period at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on December 15, 2008 in his 84th year. Predeceased by his wife Verna, brother Glenn and sister Lila Bestard. Kit served in the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve minesweeping in the North Atlantic convoys and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #77, Lakefield. He was retired from the Canadian General Electric with 44 years of service. He had a life long commitment to minor hockey and sports in Lakefield and is a life member of the Lakefield Minor Hockey Association and was a founder and honourary executive member of the Lakefield Chief' OHA Jr. A's Hockey Club. He also served numerous terms on the then Lakefield Arena Board. Kit was the cherished father of Douglas (Wanda), Nancy Cryderman (late Jim), Colleen Gainey and James (Hope). Proud grandfather of Jackie, Jenny, Penny, Wendy, Sally, Katy and Bridget. Great grandfather of Kylie, Dalton, Keagen and Christopher. Loving brother of Noreen Schroter (late Ralph) of Oshawa, Lindy and Lynne Carson of Peterborough and Joan Joynt (Murray) of Gravenhurst. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call at The Hendren Funeral Home, Lakefield Chapel on Thursday December 18, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Hendren Chapel on Friday December 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Interment Lakefield Cemetery.
