In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BROCK, Donald Morley - On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Don passed away peacefully at the age of 87 after a full and very content life.
He was a caring, loving and generous person who was known as the nicest guy ever. Don had a very calm nature, and rarely got annoyed, although groundhogs, squirrels and other wildlife that helped themselves to his bountiful garden, did trigger a more spirited reaction at times.
Born in Kirkton Ontario, Don graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College (University of Guelph) in 1958. One of the highlights from these early years for him was driving a restored fire truck with his classmates to Florida over the Christmas holidays. He was also known as "The General" after serving in the Canadian Navy's Officer training program during his summers in university.
Don spent more than 30 years teaching high school in Stayner and Collingwood helping to create an interest in all-things science for his students. He loved his family, gardening, travelling, picnics at the beach and a cold beer with his neighbours. Culinary delights were also one of Don's passions in life. You never had to call him to dinner more than once, if at all.
Don called Wasaga Beach his home for over 53 years and enjoyed swims at the beach on warm summer nights, playing golf with good friends and skiing at Blue Mountain in the winter.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Sandy, children Bruce (Daunica) and Beth (Bernhard), and brothers Bill (Anne) and Dave (Lydia) Brock. He will also be sorely missed by his six grandchildren Caitlin, Grayson, Alex and Browyn Brock, and Tyler and Rebecca Schropp who affectionally called him G-Pa.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
An expression of sympathy may be made through a donation to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation where he received exceptional care. (Simcoe County News 15 Jan 2022)
