In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ROBERTSON, John (Jack) - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 doing what he enjoyed most, watching his Toronto Maple Leafs. He will be sadly missed by his sister Norma Hewitt, sons John (Robbie) Robertson (Barbara), Brian Robertson, daughter Donna Gage (Gary) and his 7 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids. Jack was born in Toronto. As a teenager, he enrolled in the Navy and spent many harrowing nights patrolling the North Atlantic on convoy duty during WWII. After the war, he drove a bus for a few years before being hired by the T. Eaton Co., where he worked in the Men's clothing department and ultimately as a Menswear buyer for the company. He later worked as a Gar Bar Manager then Field Merchandising Coordinator for Canadian Tire. He was also the model for "Mister Pit Stop". He spent 20 years in Elliot Lake until the passing of his third wife, Pearl, in 2020, where they were active members of the Renaissance Centre and the Salvation Army. He was a DJ for Pearl's dance group and a member of the "Misfits" performing in several variety shows for the community. Due to COVID, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your favourite charity or the Salvation Army. (The Toronto Star 15 Jan 2022)
