In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
QUINN, Daniel Frederick - passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on February 14, 2022. Beloved spouse of Evelyne Tokarchuk, loving father of Colleen Quinn (Mark) and Tara Brown (Curtis). Proud grandfather of Haydn, Nova, Nolan, Keara, and Esmé. Dear brother of Donna (Chuck), John (Linda), Susan, Mike (Jennifer), Steve (Sheila), Tim (Barb), Kathy, and Kevin (Darlene). Cherished brother-in-law of Mary (Moe), Jim (Jean), and Linda (Al). Dan had many jobs during his lifetime before retiring from truck driving for Taylor Steel. As a young man he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. In his retirement he volunteered his time for many years as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163. Dan loved photography and could often be seen behind a camera. He has left us with so many beautiful photos and memories. He led an active life and enjoyed playing and coaching broomball for several years in Caledonia. He had several nicknames including Dan, Danny, Danl, the Mighty Quinn and Dan the muffin man, given by the ladies in the office at Taylor because he enjoyed baking for them. His daughters’ friends remember him as “the fun dad” who took them to Crystal Beach amusement park every summer. He loved being a dad and grandfather. His young life growing up on a farm paved the way to a lifelong appreciation of nature and animals. He liked to watch birds and regularly donated to the World Wildlife Fund. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews and welcomed an invite to family gatherings. He continued to enjoy strong ties with the spouses of his siblings and the family of his ex-wife Lucy throughout the years. We will miss his love of life and people, seen clearly through his warm smile, huge heart, and big hugs. Dan’s family thanks the staff at St. Joseph’s, Juravinski, and St. Peter’s Hospitals for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is being planned for later in the year. (The Hamilton Spectator 18 Feb 2022)
