They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
PATTERSON, Percy William, L/ Sto, V32359, RCNVR, died - 11 Mar 1945, HMCS DUNVER - Son of William and Emily Patterson, of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; husband of Mrs. B. Charlebois (formerly Patterson).
Leading Stoker P. W. Patterson drowned on St. George Island, Bermuda. The drowning occurred as Patterson was leaving in a liberty boat to board his ship HMCS DUNVER. As the boat pulled away from the pier, L/Sto Patterson fell from the vessel. His body was recovered by divers. He is buried in the Royal Naval Cemetery, Bermuda.
