LEWIS, John Ceredig Lloyd, Paym/Lt, RCNVR, died - 22 Oct 1944, HMCS NEW WATERFORD - Son of Mrs. J.J. Lloyd Lewis and the late J.J. Lloyd Lewis; husband of Mrs. Margaret A. Lewis, Calgary, AB.
On the 21st November 1944 a body was found in the River Foyle, Londonderry. It was that of paymaster Lieutenant Lewis who had been missing since the 22nd October. He had drowned. It is unknown what had happened to him but it is believed he accidentally fell into the River Foyle while returning to his ship. He is buried in the Londonderry City Cemetery, Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
