KELSEY, Lorne Stanley, AB, V919, RCNVR, died - 14 Oct 1943, HMCS CANSO - Son of Thomas S. and Georgina Agnes Kelsey, of Choiceland, SK.
Able Seaman L. S. Kelsey was involved in a FIGHT with a soldier at Nelgah Beach near Sydney, Nova Scotia, but the coroner ruled that he died of an aneurysm caused by a pre-existing medical condition. He is buried in the Blue Fox Cemetery, Choiceland, SK.
Able Seaman Lorne Stanley Kelsey of Choiceland was the son of Thomas S., a World War I veteran, and Georgiana Agnes (Purdy) Kelsey who originally came from Ontario. In 1931 the family moved from Tate to Choiceland where Thomas operated a sawmill. Lorne was born at Greenan west of Elrose, educated at Choiceland and was working at sawmills in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario when he enlisted on January 07, 1942 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Lorne's brothers John Gordon (Jack) Kelsey, Clifford Thomas Kelsey and Leonard Kelsey also served in the Navy.
